The employment market in Ireland is a jobseekers paradise. There is a skills shortage here, particularly in the IT and telecommunications sectors, and unemployment is currently at an all time low.
Wages are more competitive than in the past with employers also offering generous benefits packages to attract and keep the best workers. Some companies are also offering more flexible working hours and family friendly policies.
The information technology market tends to attract candidates who do not want long term employment contracts and prefer job mobility, so there is a growing trend towards contract employment.
The increased need for educated and skilled workers has also meant that companies in Ireland have had to provide more opportunities for education and training so that employees receive ongoing development and can develop a portfolio of skills.
